Combination Training Course for the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System

Skagit County

Training Update

June 5, 2023

The Skagit County Departments of Emergency Management has an opportunity for you to invest in personal preparedness, contribute to the overall resilience of our community, and position yourself for career advancement in emergency management and related fields.

While most emergency situations are managed successfully at the local level, larger incidents may require added coordination and response assistance from other jurisdictions, or even state or federal resources. To effectively manage incidents like this, the National Incident Management System (NIMS) was created so responders from different agencies, jurisdictions and disciplines can work together in a standardized command and operations structure.

The benefit of understanding NIMS is the unified approach to incident management, a standardized organization structure, an emphasis on preparedness, and resource management. These skills are required across a multitude of professions and are growing in demand. This course is entry level and open to all who have an interest in becoming better prepared for emergencies. Whether your enrollment is for professional advancement, a volunteer requirement, or for personal growth; we encourage you to enroll and learn with us.
