Hi friend, I am Zak Malamed – the Democrat running against George Santos.

This email is going to be a little different than the others you receive because this race is actually going to decide whether or not Democrats win back the House. 

To differentiate myself from the incumbent, I will also tell you the truth upfront: I want your support (you can split a donation with my partners at American Bridge here). Before you decide to contribute, though, you deserve to hear a little about me:

I am a third-generation resident of the district and attended Great Neck Public Schools from K-12. From an early age, my family instilled three principles in me: service, struggle, and sacrifice.

My grandmother immigrated to New York to pursue the American dream. Both sets of grandparents struggled and sacrificed to provide opportunities for their kids. My father worked in the garment industry before it collapsed and he had to start over. My mother was an educator who turned into a caretaker when some of her closest friends fell ill to cancer, all while dealing with her own chronic health issues. These are the people who have taught me everything — how to work hard, to care for others, and to give back to the community that gave to you.

I have spent the last four years defeating MAGA extremists across the country in some of the most competitive districts and states with my organization, The Next 50. Now, I am stepping up to run myself and defeat George Santos so we can restore integrity and pride in our district.

Winning this race is not just about unseating George Santos and restoring dignity to the office. As I mentioned earlier, the path to the House majority runs directly through this district. We know Kevin McCarthy and national Republicans will not give up without a fight. 
We fully expect them to spend millions of dollars more than this district has ever received to hold on to this seat. And that is why I need you, friend.

New York’s 3rd is not the same district it was when I was growing up. Home prices and rents are up. Local businesses struggle with inflation. Our neighbors feel more transience than security. Folks are rightfully angry and scared about the change.

It is that frustration and fear that carried George Santos — and MAGA Republicans like him — to victory across Queens and Long Island, as well as the rest of the country. But their extreme MAGA agenda is not the answer. 

I have not given up on our government’s ability to adapt to the needs of a new generation — and meet the challenges of the moment. In Congress, I will be a Representative who prioritizes whatever work it takes to build a politics of hope, because I know exactly what it is like when fear takes hold.

Friend, I am running because I want to give back to the community that gave so much to me and my family. We can win because I know what it takes to run a competitive campaign and defeat MAGA extremists. I have done it in districts all across this country — and I am the only candidate in the race who has experience defeating the MAGA madness.
