Today, former Vice President Mike Pence (R) filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for president. An official announcement is expected Wednesday in Iowa. [link removed]
The California Senate is considering a bill that would change how counties handle contracts and plans for voting systems. The bill would require counties to have a new voting system contract and transition plan in place, requirements that respond directly to Shasta County’s decision to cancel a contract with Dominion Voting Systems earlier this year. On May 26, the Nevada Republican Party filed a lawsuit against the state of Nevada and Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar (D) challenging a 2021 law that switched the state from a caucus system to a primary system for nominating presidential candidates. [link removed]

In the episode that dropped last Friday, Marc and Paige discussed Ohio Republicans’ latest anti-democratic act: a proposal to make it more difficult for voters to amend the state constitution.
