Kickoff: 2025 Periodic Update workshop series
The Washington State Department of Commerce, in partnership with the Thurston Regional Planning Council and Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC), is hosting a new series of Periodic Update workshops for cities and counties who have updates due in 2025.
Starting in June and continuing into 2024, these workshops will support local governments starting their periodic updates under the Growth Management Act. While focused on the needs of local governments, they are open to anyone with an interest in planning. Stay tuned to our Commerce Periodic Update webpage to learn more about upcoming workshop topics and the periodic update.

Kick-off workshop overview
In addition to an overview of the periodic update process, the first workshop will include:
- A summary of new legislation, including new climate and housing requirements
- Our current grant availability and application procedures
- Resource sharing for each partner
