John, right wing attacks on our freedoms affect us all – thinking what happens in a red state stays in a red state is dangerous for the folks who live there and the rest of the country. That’s why electing progressives at every school board, county office, municipality and state legislature is vital to protecting our rights. You can help elect these young progressives by donating here. →

John, I need you to take this to heart: What happens in a red state doesn’t stay in a red state.
Take these right-wing book bans for example – textbook publishers cater to three markets at the state level, one of them being Florida. They use the books published in Florida as a template, and those textbooks are sent to schools all over the country.
|
So yes, kids in ALL states, red or blue, are being impacted by the grotesquely censored version of “history” being taught in Florida schools.
|
The backward opinions of a handful of people (in some places just one person’s complaints can get a book banned!) have ripple effects that affect millions. The only way to combat this tide of extremism is at the root – in down-ballot offices.
That’s exactly what Run for Something alumni are doing: They’re fighting on the school boards, city councils, and state legislatures to stop these extremist policies and push forward better ones. These young progressives are our first and last line of defense. And they’re a force to be reckoned with.
But they need your support. WE need your support. There are no off years at Run for Something: Every election at every level of the ballot matters. And that’s why we rely on grassroots progressives like you to fuel our efforts. Please, will you donate $5 to help young, diverse progressives put a stop to the GOP’s dangerous agenda from the state level and beyond?
