John, Throughout my career on the frontlines, I’ve seen too much preventable death and suffering as a result of gun violence. As a trauma surgeon, I’ve had to wreck the lives of far too many mothers by delivering the news of the deaths of their children. Over Memorial Day weekend, there were more than 20 mass shootings in the US. In Texas, we’ve led the nation in mass shootings since the tragedy in Uvalde just over a year ago. And just days before I launched my campaign, 8 people were killed in Allen at the outlet mall I myself have visited with my wife and daughter many times. June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and together we must demand our elected officials take bold action to end the epidemic of gun violence. We can do big things in Washington to save lives. As an advisor to Senator Chris Murphy, I learned that bipartisan solutions can be achieved in Congress, and witnessed our lawmakers pass the most significant legislation in three decades to increase gun safety and reduce violence. Still, our country endures the ceaseless human toll of gun violence every day. We need more leaders in Congress who will take bold action. I’m calling on our leaders to display that courage by raising the age to purchase weapons of any kind and banning weapons of war from our streets. This campaign is just one part of my efforts to promote gun safety and save lives. Now, I need you to join me. Will you add your name to my petition, calling on our leaders in Washington to pass meaningful, comprehensive gun safety legislation?
Together, we can create life-saving change. Thank you for standing with me. Onward, Brian
