John,

To say this community is a blessing would be an understatement.

Every end-of-month fundraising goal, every mile traveling Maryland, every door knocked, every bill passed in our first legislative session – it all adds up…

To moving Maryland forward.

To building a state where no one is left behind.

To being a place where people are proud to live and want to live.

Of course our work is not done. Truly, it will never fully be done – it will simply be work we hand off to the next generation to continue.

But when your goal is nothing short of bending the moral arc of the universe, it becomes all the more important to celebrate the benchmarks along the way. To pause and to look back at the path behind you before summoning the courage to take that next step on the path ahead of you.

So I send this note to thank you for another amazing month. For another goal hit. And to reflect on the beauty of this moment before we turn and face the one ahead.
