Happy Pride Month, John!

Every June, we honor Delaware’s rich and vibrant LGBTQ+ community and recommit ourselves to standing shoulder to shoulder in the fight for equality. As Democrats, we believe no one should be discriminated against or live in fear simply because of who they are or who they love.

Pride month is a celebration, it is a protest, and it is a call to action to support candidates who will continue to take bold action toward the realization of full equality for LGBTQ+ Americans.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Marriage Equality in Delaware. Back in 2013, Democrats in our legislature led the way in codifying same-sex marriage into law, making Delaware just the eleventh state to do so. A decade later we find ourselves at a similar inflection point in the fight for true equality.

While we are celebrating this month, Republicans are working as hard as ever to undo the progress that we have made. Republican legislatures across the country target the LGBTQ+ community through discriminatory, transphobic, and homophobic legislation. Worse yet, they seem to have prioritized cruelty in their singling out of trans youth. Clearly, our work is far from over. As Democrats, we must stand steadfast in the fight to protect rights and freedoms of the LGBTQ+ community.

This Pride Month, join us in not just celebrating our progress, but in actively defending the LGBTQ+ community’s rights, dignity, and future.
