I've attached the information files below along with the application. The introduction email is below. KANSAS YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR 2023 Would you like to spend a week empowering and supporting high school students with disabilities? Volunteer Application Deadline: Monday, June 12, 2023 We are gearing up for our 2023 Kansas Youth Leadership Forum, and would love to have YOU as a volunteer! This program has been around since 2001 and is a week-long leadership training for high school juniors and seniors with all types of disabilities. It is held every year in July on the campus of Washburn University in Topeka. The youth who attend are selected based on their leadership potential and/or interest. While at the Forum, they learn about leadership, advocacy, goal setting, disability awareness and history, community resources, and so much more. This is also an amazing week of empowerment and growth. We have speakers, small group breakout sessions, a Day at the Capital, Mentor Luncheon, barbecue, adapted recreation, resource fairs, a talent show and a dance. This program involves a lot of learning, but it is a ton of fun as well! This has been a life changing week for many youth across our state. Our 2023 Forum will be held July 17-22 at Washburn University in Topeka. Volunteers MUST stay on campus with our group for the entire week. Our organization pays for all expenses, including lodging in the dorms on campus and all meals for the week. All you have to do is show up and be ready to motivate and guide the youth delegates! In order to volunteer, applicants must first fill out an application. Then, all volunteer applicants will be interviewed over the phone, and our KSYLF team will select our final team of volunteers. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and already graduated high school. They may be people with or without disabilities. Attached is our KSYLF volunteer flyer, fact sheet, and application. Applications are due Monday, June 12, 2023.You can learn more about this program by visiting www.kyea.org/ksylf.
