Good morning John,
The Wellspring Fund<[link removed]> is Headwaters’ newest grantmaking fund, and it officially opens today!
For years, we’ve had the goal of offering longer grant terms and larger grant sizes. The message from our grantee community has been clear: long-term organizing needs to be supported by long-term funding that organizations can count on.
I am excited that the Wellspring Fund is one way Headwaters is responding to that need.
Here’s what you need to know:
Wellspring Fund grants are 4-year, project-based grants that support BIPOC-led organizations working towards strengthening the ecosystem of social justice movements in Minnesota. These grants aim to deeply nourish organizations and coalitions that are driving innovative, impactful work for change.
Alongside longer grant terms, the Wellspring Fund also offers larger grant amounts. Grants will provide organizations with meaningful, multi-year support through project-based funds of $90,000 per year, for a total of $360,000 per grant.
Like wellsprings in the natural world, we believe our movements for justice are sources of abundance and transformative change. We are so excited to resource that change in this new way.
If you are part of an interested organization or coalition,
head to our website<[link removed]> to find the full application guidelines and
register for an information session on June 7 or June 21<[link removed]>. If you have questions about grant criteria, focus, and eligibility, connect with
Kate Vickery<[link removed]>, Program Officer. The application deadline is Wednesday, July 18 at 5 p.m.
In solidarity,
Bilal Alkatout
