On January 22 we marked the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. In the almost five decades since 1973, we've seen one desperate attack after another from right-wing extremists. They will stop at nothing to undermine a woman's ability to make decisions about her own body.

Today the Trump administration is preparing its argument for the Supreme Court to limit women's access to birth control under the Affordable Care Act. They want to throw critical healthcare coverage for millions of women into question.

This strategy to erode women's most basic human rights is absolutely despicable. There is no other word for it. All of us must unite to oppose it at every turn. I've introduced the Women's Health Protection Act in the Senate to uphold a woman's reproductive freedom in our country, no matter where she lives – but I need you in this fight with me:

Since Trump won in 2016, we've seen dangerous bills pushed through state legislatures across our country. From Louisiana to Utah, Republican extremists are scheming to get a case challenging Roe v. Wade up to the Supreme Court. In fact, more than 200 members of Congress just sent a written request to the high court urging it to overturn the very freedoms Roe v. Wade protects.

These relentless attacks on women are unconstitutional. We are facing an unprecedented five-alarm fire in the ongoing struggle for women's healthcare.

Since my early days as a law clerk to Justice Harry Blackmun, I have fought to protect women's autonomy and personal dignity. I trust women to make their own healthcare decisions just as much as I trust men. I can promise you I won't back down – not now, not ever.
