Team –
Last month, we reached out with an urgent update about the latest phase of the GOP’s attack on voting rights. Here’s where things stand now (there’s good news and bad news):
First, the good news: According to the Washington Post, “While there are ongoing efforts to make it more difficult to vote in many Republican-controlled states, a research group found there has also been a quiet countermovement to expand access to voting across the country.”
This is a direct result of our grassroots efforts! The NDRC’s work to secure fair maps and elect Democracy Defenders in places like Maryland, Michigan, and Minnesota helped make it possible for Democrats to win full control of those states for the first time in years. Now, those states are working to expand voting rights.

Now, the bad news: While we’re still awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision in Allen v. Milligan, experts have issued grim predictions. According to FiveThirtyEight, “The Supreme Court Is On The Verge Of Killing The Voting Rights Act.”
Republicans aren’t slowing down in their efforts to undermine our democracy, team, so we can’t slow down in our efforts to protect and strengthen it. As President Obama said recently, “Our democracy is resilient as long as we stay engaged and active.”
One way you can stay engaged and active in the fight for our democracy is by making a donation to support our work at the NDRC. Can we count on you to pitch in today?

Subject: The next phase in the GOP attack on voting rights:
This is urgent, team:
First, Donald Trump and his GOP allies spread the Big Lie that the 2020 election was “stolen” due to non-existent voter fraud.
Then, based on these baseless lies, Republican lawmakers passed dozens of laws making it harder to vote in nearly half of all states.
Now, Republican election deniers in Congress are praising these bills. They’ve called them “models” for the kind of voter suppression they hope to pass at the national level!
And, to make matters worse, the Supreme Court is currently considering a case that CNN reports “may completely hollow out the Voting Rights Act by 2024.”
With Republican attacks on voting rights escalating, the NDRC’s efforts to strengthen our democracy and fight for fairness have never been more important. Can we count on you to donate today to help us keep going?

Yes! I’m donating to help the NDRC defend democracy > [link removed]
The future of voting rights – and the legacy of the Civil Rights movement – are on the line. As Attorney General Eric Holder has warned, “Now is not the time to take our democracy for granted.”
The NDRC is NOT taking democracy for granted, team, and we hope you won’t either. Will you pitch in today to power our work?
