As our 30th anniversary year continues, we’re thinking back to our aspirations for Womankind Worldwide when it was founded in 1989. Chief Executive at the time, Dr Kate Young wrote,
“The process of women working together and solving problems… of learning by doing…will lead to empowerment, both collective and individual.”
And Dr. Young’s aspiration for the organisation - that together women can be a force for change- shines through in each and every article of our Summer newsletter.
Here are some highlights from the latest issue;
UKAM – you did it!
After a three-month appeal raising funds for women facing forced evictions in Uganda, we are delighted to announce that we beat our target! Through your support and generosity, we raised over £330,000 all of which will be doubled by the UK government. We’ll be increasing support to over 300,000 women who have been forcibly evicted in Uganda. Click to read more > >
The road to equality starts with the first step
To end future violence against women we must start at the very beginning – educating our young people. Students across Ethiopia’s capital city have been attending workshops tackling subjects such as sexism and healthy relationships delivered by our partner Setaweet. See what students Selam (left) & Abraham gained from the experience. Click to read more > >
A space to heal in Ethiopia

Whether its increasing support to women escaping violence in Ethiopia or providing legal aid for women in Zimbabwe - your support has made this all possible.
On our 30th anniversary, we thank you wholeheartedly!
