Dear John,
It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting
for our conservative values.
I'm proud to have supported the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl Act,
which passed the House with a large majority. This critical legislation seeks
to permanently categorize fentanyl as a Schedule 1 substance, giving law
enforcement better tools to fight it. Fentanyl is the leading cause of death
for 18- to 49-year-old Americans. Fentanyl does not discriminate based on age
or income level, which is why we must act swiftly to protect our communities.
It has come to my attention that the University of Minnesota offered a summer
program that explicitly banned white students. This is wholly unacceptable and
outrageous. I joined other Republican lawmakers in calling on Department of
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to intervene immediately and exercise
federal authority to end this unfair, and likely illegal, exclusionary rule.
Due to the publicity, including an article inThe New York Post, the U responded
by taking steps to ensure it meets Title VI, Title IX, and other laws.
As your representative, I heard loud and clear that the debt ceiling deal did
not go far enough to get our fiscal house in order. Despite respectable efforts
from the Speaker and his team of negotiators, I voted NO to raise the debt
ceiling. Unfortunately, this deal is evidence that President Biden and the
Democrats are in denial about the harm their radical spending has done to
Americans. The entire process shows how important it is that Republicans must
win the U.S. Senate and the White House in 2024 if we’re ever going to be
serious about cutting federal spending.
