team, we can breathe a sigh of relief. President Biden just signed legislation to raise the debt ceiling – avoiding a potential economic disaster.

It took weeks of tough negotiations. In the Senate, I worked hard to make sure a deal could get across the finish line. But it took a unified Democratic effort in the House, Senate, and from the White House to get a deal that didn’t sacrifice key programs and assistance for the most vulnerable Americans. Thankfully, these efforts forced House Republicans to finally put an end to the dangerous political games they’ve been playing with our country and we were able to avert a catastrophic default on the national debt.

But let's be clear: This entire episode was unnecessary. The Republican Party was holding our nation's economy hostage for their own political gain.

It's time to put an end to this unnecessary drama and make sure our government functions responsibly. By standing together, Democrats made it pretty darn clear which party can be trusted with the American economy. Now we need to carry this into the upcoming elections and make sure we have a Democratic majority going forward. Will you pitch in anything you can right now so we can defend our Democratic Senate majority, regain control of the House, and end these political games in 2024?
