Hey folks!

It’s hard to believe, but twenty years ago today , I was elected Mayor of Denver.
My candidacy was a longshot — I entered the race with just a few months left until the election, and I was brand new to politics. I was just a geologist-turned-brewpub owner, but I felt like the concerns of everyday folks like you simply weren’t being heard. So I decided enough was enough, and took a big leap of faith.

I campaigned on bringing people together to get things done — and that’s exactly what we did. We worked with mayors from across the Denver metro area to create an ambitious light rail project; made Denver the first city to provide high-quality early childhood education for four-year-olds; and opened one of the first offices of sustainability in the country.
I’ve always carried this common-sense, collaborative spirit throughout my career in public service. And ever since this team helped elect me to the Senate, we’ve invested billions in the fight against climate change, expanded access to affordable health care, made historic investments in our aging infrastructure, and finally brought manufacturing jobs back to America.
Make no mistake, we’ve still got plenty of challenges ahead of us. From ending the gun violence epidemic to defending reproductive rights, breaking through the partisan gridlock in Washington won’t be easy. But that won’t stop us. To me, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican. If you're willing to work in good faith to make people’s lives better, I’m in.
Folks, thank you for your continued support toward our work to make Washington work for everyone and deliver for working families across Colorado. I’m truly grateful to have folks like you on my side.
Giddy up!
— John
