First, I want to thank you for all of your generous support this week. Time and time again, you come through at our most critical moments. I’m grateful to have you on our team.
If we keep up this incredible momentum, we’ll be well on our way to keeping CA-47 blue and making progress on the issues that matter most.
Today is also National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and the start of Wear Orange Weekend. I’ll be joining with Americans everywhere in wearing orange to remember the countless lives lost to gun violence and recommit to building a safer America for all.
Nearly every community in America has been affected by senseless gun violence. Our churches, our temples, our schools, our movie theaters, our dance halls, our streets – there is no place in our country that is safe from gun violence. And let’s be clear: this is entirely a political problem. We are the only country on this planet that endures gun violence of this kind. And we are the only country that allows widespread, easy access to firearms.
Our gun violence epidemic is a direct result of the outrageously lax gun regulations we have in place, pushed by extremist politicians who are in bed with the NRA. We cannot accept this as our reality. We must act. This is a big part of the reason I chose to enter public office a few years back. I’m proud of the gun violence legislation we have been able to get across the finish line here in California during my time in the State Senate. And I remain committed to pushing for aggressive solutions for gun violence prevention when I am elected to Congress.
I hope you’ll continue to stand with me in this fight.
Thanks again for all you do,
Dave
