We hope you have had a great week! This past weekend and Memorial Day, Congressman Kim joined neighbors across the district to remember and honor our servicemembers’ and military families’ service and sacrifice. With the end of Military Appreciation Month, we commit to the promise to have their backs in our continued work supporting our armed forces and veterans.

As we head into June, we celebrate Pride Month and stand with the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate and defend the right to love and live freely! Everyone deserves to belong.

Congressman Kim Helps Secure $172,000 in Grant Funding to Recruit and Retain Firefighters

This week, Congressman Kim announced that the Medford Lakes Fire Department was awarded $172,000 from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER) through FEMA to help recruit, train, and retain firefighters. The SAFER Grant funding gives our brave firefighters the direct support they deserve and provides some help in their every day service keeping our communities safe and healthy.

Honoring Memorial Day at Doyle Cemetery

This past weekend, Congressman Kim joined Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough and Governor Phil Murphy at BG William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery again this year to help honor the fallen with veterans and local military families. The cemetery always stands as a beautiful tribute to New Jerseyans who braved served and a lasting reminder of their sacrifices.

A Special Memorial Day Moment

On Memorial Day, Congressman Kim and his boys had the special opportunity to honor Fred Hampton, a World War II veteran in Medford for his incredible service to our nation.

On top of that, it was his 99th birthday! Congressman Kim enjoyed introducing his boys to a local WWII hero and recognizing his life and service.

Burlington County Memorial Day Ceremony

On Tuesday, Congressman Kim spoke at the Burlington County Memorial Day Ceremony. The event is held every year on May 30th to reflect the first call for a national day of remembrance in 1868 for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the country.

Visit to American Legion Post 509

Earlier this week, Congressman Kim toured the American Legion Post 509 in Westampton. Last year, the Congressman secured $20,000 for repairs to the building. He was able to see what repairs the funding will complete and discuss further work to support local veteran organizations.

Congressman Kim’s Statement on Wednesday’s Debt Ceiling Vote

On Wednesday, the House passed bipartisan legislation to address the U.S. treasury’s debt and avoid a catastrophic default. The legislation went on to pass the U.S. Senate yesterday.

“This entire process was a disaster. I ultimately decided to vote yes because default would be catastrophic for our nation, but what McCarthy did to weaponize the debt ceiling and hold our nation hostage was among the most reckless actions I’ve seen a political leader take. We need to get rid of this separate debt ceiling vote process once and for all. It creates only lose-lose scenarios for our nation.”

Congressman Kim Speaks with Service Academy Class of 2027

The Congressman hosted an event to celebrate the students pursuing attendance at one of the U.S. Military Service Academies. It is always such a great honor every year to nominate local students and support their dream to attend one of our nation’s Service Academies.

Congressman Kim congratulated our local Service Academy Class of 2027 and thanked them for their passion to serve our nation.

Congressman Kim Commemorates End of AANHPI Heritage Month at JBMDL

Congressman Kim spoke at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst’s reception this week marking the end of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Congressman Kim Announces 2023 Art Competition Winner!

Today, Congressman Kim announced that Aiden Wan, a 9th grader from The Peddie School in Hightstown, is New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District’s 2023 Congressional Art Competition winner! It is exciting every year to see all the incredible submissions to the competition and we are grateful for every student’s effort and passion. Congressman Kim looks forward to welcoming Aiden to Washington soon so he can see his art hanging on the walls of our Capitol!

National Gun Violence Awareness Month

Today is Wear Orange Day/National Gun Violence Awareness Day, helping mark the full Awareness Month throughout June. Congressman Kim is committed to combating the gun violence epidemic in our nation and continues to vote for gun violence prevention legislation to protect our children and families.
