In case you haven't heard, I want to be the first to tell you: I'm running to be the next governor of Washington!
It has been one of the greatest honors in my life to serve my home state as Washington’s commissioner of public lands. We’ve accomplished so much together – from securing massive investments in reforestation, wildfire preparation and fighting climate change to creating thousands of sustainable, good-paying jobs.
But, John, we’re just getting started.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you personally right now to ask you to add your name to let me know you’re part of this campaign.
Our reality is changing. On climate and across the board, we’re paying the price. Wages are slow to rise, housing is through the roof, childcare is out of reach, and once-in-a-lifetime climate events are happening once a month. We need a leader who is not afraid to take risks and try bold new strategies to secure a brighter future for all of us.
I’ve seen the challenges we’re facing in every community across Washington – and I’ve lived them. I know what housing insecurity and economic insecurity look like, and I am committed to working tirelessly to make sure no families experience it, no matter where they live.
I’m running for governor because, with all that’s at stake right now, anything shy of bold, urgent progress won’t cut it. Together, we’ve got to plan, we’ve got to prepare, and we’ve got to act now.
But, like this campaign, it can only happen if we work together.
