John, it's National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
Our nation is sick with the epidemic of gun violence. It's sick with more guns than there are people. It's sick with politicians who allow people to die, and won't even protect our children.
Every day, 120 people are killed with guns in America. These are our kids, our friends, and our neighbors. Growing up in New York City, and serving as a Middle School Principal, I saw the trauma of gun violence on my friends, my community, my kids, and in my own family. I've been caught in shoot outs and even lost one of my close friends and her eight-month-old baby to gun violence. It has to end.
John, we need common sense gun reform NOW to save lives. Will you add your name to our petition calling on Congress to prioritize gun safety regulations over profits for the gun industry today?
Together, I believe we can curb gun violence if we pressure our political leaders to act.
