Dear John,
If you had asked me a few days ago what I’d be up to this week, I would have told you I had been called back to DC for a vote on the Bipartisan Budget Agreement to help avert a disastrous default on the debt. But you know what they say about the best of plans…
On Monday evening, while working in the yard at home in Minnesota, I dislocated and fractured my ankle in multiple places. The medical term for it is a bimalleolar fracture. And yes, it hurt like hell. Yesterday, I had successful surgery to put the bones back together complete with bands, plates and nine screws. I can’t wait for the next time I have to go through security at the airport. I’m grateful to be at home recovering and resting now.
I want to shout out the Prior Lake Police and Fire Departments and the EMS and medical professionals who’ve helped get me through the week. In addition, Cheryl and I are so appreciative of all the well wishes from folks across the Second District.
The good news is that the bill passed the House, and we avoided a default. I issued a statement of support prior to the vote. Defaulting on our nation’s debt was never an option, and despite its flaws, it was critical in divided government that we get this compromise bill across the finish line.
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
I’m at home recovering from surgery – and already working a bit remotely. I’ll be back in DC as soon as I’m cleared to travel – but here’s my update for now!
Once again, thank you for all your support and well wishes. I’ll be scooting across the district and DC very soon.
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
