Democrat,
Happy Pride Month! This month is not only a time for celebration but also a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance. Let us honor the countless contributions made by LGBTQ+ individuals, activists, artists, and community members who have fought tirelessly for their rights and the rights of others; but even as we commemorate their achievements, we must also remember the work that still lies ahead. It is crucial to stand in solidarity and protect these communities, especially as we witness a surge in Republican-led legislative efforts targeting transgender individuals across the country. Let’s use this month as an opportunity to raise awareness, educate, and advocate for a world where everyone can live their lives authentically and without fear. If we stay focused and motivated on a better future, and make sure to show up for elections, we are capable of building a more inclusive and compassionate society.

The Murphy administration's dedication to protecting the LGBTQ+ community and enacting groundbreaking legislation to codify these rights into law has been a crucial part of his tenure in office. Under Governor Murphy's leadership, significant strides have been made to ensure equity and fairness and his administration has left an indelible mark on the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. Some of the action he has taken include: |
Examples like the above demonstrate a dedication to LGBTQ+ rights that extends far beyond the confines of Pride Month. These showcase a sustained year-long commitment to fostering inclusivity, equality, and acceptance for all individuals regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. They show understanding that supporting LGBTQ+ rights is not a temporary gesture, but an ongoing endeavor that requires continuous advocacy and action. By persistently championing LGBTQ+ rights, even after Pride Month concludes, Democrats in New Jersey prove their steadfast commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

Despite extremist MAGA House Republicans attempting to hold the economy hostage, President Biden expertly negotiated a crucial bipartisan budget agreement that averts a catastrophic scenario for American families and workers. This agreement ensures that the United States avoids defaulting on its debt for the first time in history, preventing an economic recession that would severely impact families, individuals, and workers. The budget agreements will also protect workers from the loss of millions of jobs that would have happened if the GOP got their economic plan through and protects Social Security and Medicare (for now). While admittedly not perfect, this bipartisan budget agreement shows just how dysfunctional the Republican Party continues to be and how willing they are to sacrifice our seniors and veterans. Our Democratic delegation in the House stood unified to protect and uphold not only the economic stability of the United States, but also protect as much as possible those vulnerable populations.
“I have been clear that the only path forward is a bipartisan compromise that can earn the support of both parties. This agreement meets that test,” said President Biden. “I urge the Senate to pass it as quickly as possible so that I can sign it into law, and our country can continue building the strongest economy in the world.”
— Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.
