Hi John,
Glastonbury is fast approaching, and it’s always been an incredible place to speak to like-minded individuals to raise awareness about Greenpeace campaigns among a worldwide audience of millions. I’ve been working with the Glastonbury team since 1991, and I’m so grateful to the hundreds of volunteers, fundraisers, campaigners and supporters who make everything we do possible. From oceans and plastics, to forests and climate justice, there really is a campaign for everybody. And if you’re not at Glastonbury or any other festivals this summer, why not take a look at our take action page for how you can get involved with our campaigns: [link removed]
For our festival collection, this year, we’re delving into how climate change impacts everyone, but unfortunately, those who contribute to it the least, have to suffer the most.
Intersectionality looks at how parts of someone’s social identity – such as race, gender, class, ability – combine to form the discrimination or oppression they face. In the work we do, we are focusing on how the future of environmentalism IS intersectional. It helps us see and address the types of privileges different people experience, and our efforts are only as powerful as the people that we bring together.
We asked artist Ananya to create a design inspired by global struggles that are interconnected; liberation for all is an important aspect of climate change.
“As a disabled, neurodivergent woman of colour, I live in multiple intersecting experiences. Historically, the environmental movement has been quite linear and whitewashed in its approach to environmental issues, but an important shift is happening now. To me, this design symbolises an urgent and necessary shift towards practising an intersectional approach to the environment that takes into account how all our struggles are connected.” - Ananya

We’ve taken our most popular design from 2022 (the climate stripes) and added some summer outdoor vibes ready for those of you looking for ways to take action this festival season! Can you spot the climate stripes within the design below?
Last summer saw the UK record its hottest day ever, topping 40°C. The rapid heating of our planet in recent decades is shown in these stripes designed by Professor Ed Hawkins from the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, University of Reading. Each stripe represents the average global temperature of a single year, relative to the average of the last three decades of the 20th century.
The March 2023 IPCC report, written by leading climate scientists, makes for tough reading. It shows that climate change is widespread and getting worse fast, with the people least responsible being hit the hardest.
But there’s one crucial point that shines through. We have a huge opportunity to change the course of our future. We still have time to reduce global emissions and renewable energy solutions such as wind and solar already exist. What’s missing is urgent ambition and action from politicians and oil companies.
That’s where you come in! By being part of this mass movement, our voices can’t be ignored. Every t-shirt bought, petition signed and time volunteering, all helps the movement grow and become more powerful. Together we’ll work for a fair, green and peaceful future.

Our planet is 70% oceans and seas, but only a tiny fraction is currently protected. Thanks to you we’ve been campaigning on issues like creating a global network of ocean sanctuaries to protect oceans from overfishing, oil drilling and plastic pollution since we started in 1971.
In March of this year, governments finally agreed to a Global Ocean Treaty at the United Nations, after almost two decades of negotiations. It sets the rules and tools for protecting ocean life over nearly half of our planet, and provides a pathway to creating marine protected areas across the world’s oceans.
This treaty is the biggest conservation victory ever. It’s a huge moment for our blue planet, and a hopeful sign that in a divided world, protecting nature for the benefit of all people can triumph over global politics.
This landmark announcement was swiftly followed by some seriously worrying news, though, as the world’s governments could soon give the green light to allow deep sea mining for the first time. Profit-hungry companies want to mine the seabed for minerals used to make batteries. But the deep sea is mostly untouched, and giant machines are now threatening huge parts of the ocean floor, fragile marine habitats and communities worldwide that rely on our oceans.
Your purchases this weekend have no delivery charges, and a percentage of what you spend comes right back to us to work on issues like stopping deep sea mining before it even begins.

Sometimes it can feel overwhelming - the scientific data, the number of protests, the amount of global issues - but together, we can create impactful change. Why not take a minute to bask in the glory of what we’ve achieved over the years?: [link removed] From banning commercial whaling in 1982 to helping secure a Global Oceans Treaty in 2023 - your support makes all this possible!
This weekend, everything in our shop can be purchased with no delivery fees! When our supporters ask for merchandise, you expect sustainability, and that’s exactly what we’ve given you.
