John,

Our Members are working tirelessly to ensure we have a national strategy to combat one of the biggest threats to the safety of our families and the stability of the international community — the global climate crisis.

Last week, SEEC Climate and National Security Task Force Co-Chairs Rep. Katie Porter and Rep. Andy Kim sent a letter to the House Armed Services Committee to make sure this year’s National Defense Authorization Act supports a holistic national defense strategy that will confront the global climate crisis head on.

As extreme weather continues to wreak havoc on parts of our world where our service members are stationed, SEEC knows that passing a comprehensive approach combining clean energy solutions with innovative technologies ensures our nation’s future is secure and resilient.

Adopting these climate-forward solutions at such a high level will do more than keep our troops safe — these policies will directly tackle the climate crisis, one of the biggest non-state-actor threats to our global communities, and propel our country as a world leader in energy resilience and clean energy operations.

This is why it’s critical we elect pro-climate leaders, John. When we lead with the climate, we’re able to tackle other pressing issues hurting our families, our troops, and our country all while ensuring a more sustainable future for our planet.

Reps. Katie Porter and Andy Kim have each been frontliners for the past three elections in a row, but that hasn’t stopped them from standing up for the climate.
