Dear Friend,

Last week’s Dignity in Dying event in Westminster was a resounding success. Its impact will be made even more powerful by your signatures on our open letter to party leaders. I can’t thank you enough.

MPs, Peers, parliamentary candidates, and many others, listened intently as we told them why a change in the assisted dying law is so crucial for this country. I had many positive conversations with MPs, about the need for a compassionate, safe and legal option for terminally ill people.

Seeing my brother, David, die a wretched death, and making my recent Channel 4 documentary made me more certain than ever that dying people should be able to die on their own terms. That wasn’t the case for my brother - he would cry and scream in agony for hours every single day. I know you know, this is not how it should be.

This event was the start of something greater. MPs are ready to engage on assisted dying ahead of the next general election. The amount of signatures on the open letter shows just how important this issue is to you, their constituents. Now it’s time to capitalise on this moment.

Friend, I’ve done what I can, now will you join with me? Will you become a Dignity in Dying member today to power the next stage in the campaign and help to stop 17 people a day suffering as they die?

I’m doing alI I can to help dying people get the death they deserve. To stop people having to make that appalling choice between suffering, suicide and Switzerland.

Now I'm passing the torch on to you, in the hope you will take action, and join a cause so close to my heart. The law as it is, just doesn’t work at all for dying people - every person reading this knows how true that is.

This event has geared us up for the next stage of Dignity in Dying’s campaign. The road to the general election will be tough, but your support can help fund the high impact campaigns that will ensure success in Westminster.

But Dignity in Dying’s research, awareness and campaigning is only as powerful as its members. If everyone plays their part, and donates just a few pounds a month to become a member today, we can ensure dying people have choice and dignity at the end of life. Will you stand with me and become a member?

Yes, I'll become a member >>

Thank you so much for all you do. Together, we will change the law.

Warm wishes,
Prue
