Dear AFGE Activist,
Happy LGBTQIA+ Pride Month! This annual month-long celebration is a time to honor the diverse identities and experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community and foster understanding, spread awareness, and promote inclusivity, encouraging individuals worldwide to embrace their authentic selves and stand united in solidarity, love, and PRIDE.
This year, there are a number of ways to join WFP and AFGE PRIDE in celebrating LGBTQIA+ history, culture, and community.
Join our AFGE PRIDE Facebook group to keep up with us and learn more about LGBTQIA+ history and culture.
Check out our AFGE PRIDE Toolkit for information about our AFGE PRIDE Program, Coordinators, and Constituency Group, AFGE PRIDE Training materials, and resources for building more LGBTQIA+ inclusive spaces at work and in the union.
Join us for our LGBTQIA+ Mental Health Webinar on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 7-8pm ET. Join Deb Friesen, MD, as we learn about LGBTQIA+ mental health. Talking about mental health is not always easy, but it’s important to know how to support our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and friends including how to reduce stigma, spot signs of distress, find LGBTQIA+ competent mental health care, start meaningful judgment-free conversations, and incorporate gratitude practices into daily life.
Join us at Capital Pride in Washington D.C. from June 10-11, 2023. There’s still time to save your spot with WFP and AFGE PRIDE at the Capital Pride Parade on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 3-7:30pm ET and the Capital Pride Festival on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 12-7pm ET.
Can’t make it to Washington D.C.? Attend one of the Pride Month events in your area. Check this listing to see what’s happening in your city this June.
In Solidarity,
Jeremy A. Lannan
