Dear John,
I hope this email finds you well. I apologize for my recent radio silence; I’ve been deeply engaged in some vitally important initiatives and events that I hope will warrant your attention. I wanted to take a moment to update you on my recent activities and shed light on crucial matters affecting our democratic process in Ohio.
Over the past few months, I have been actively involved in supporting the effort to secure signatures to place abortion rights on the November ballot. I believe it is our duty to stand up for those who deserve to make choices about their own bodies, and that it’s crucial that we protect the fundamental reproductive rights of individuals.
In addition to the signature drive, I have been dedicating my time to raising awareness about Ohio's HJR 1 and SJR 2. These proposed amendments, which will be brought to the ballot in a special election on August 8th, are of significant concern. The GOP state legislature aims to raise the threshold for constitutionally ratifying people-powered initiatives from 50% + 1 to 60% + 1, effectively nullifying the power of a simple majority in our democratic system. This change threatens the very essence of our representative democracy and must be confronted head-on.
On a positive note, I am excited to announce the launch of a new podcast called "Cuyahoga Today” with the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party. The podcast aims to inform our community about important issues, legislation, initiatives, and candidates. I encourage you to tune in and engage in the discussion to foster a better understanding of our political landscape.

In future emails, I will delve into more detail about current events and elections taking place throughout our county. However, I would like to take this opportunity to address a matter of utmost importance: our nation's financial stability. I am relieved that Congress has taken action to raise the debt ceiling, thus avoiding a default on our obligations. Nevertheless, we must be proactive in planning for the future and finding ways to balance the budget. It is unsustainable to continue spending $2 trillion more than our tax revenue each year. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to address this issue responsibly.
As engaged citizens, we have the power to shape the future of our state and country. It is essential that we stay informed, stand up for our values, and actively participate in the democratic process. I encourage you to reach out to your friends, family, and colleagues, and educate them about the initiatives, elections, and challenges we face. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our shared goals. I look forward to updating you on further developments and, most importantly, to working together to build a brighter future for Ohio.
Warm regards and Happy Pride Month,
