The Union is running a “Take Back The Flag” campaign .  We think it’s critical to replace the shame and horror of seeing the American Flag used as a weapon on January 6th, with the pride most of us have in what the flag symbolizes: democracy, freedom, rule of law and hope for a better future. We need to Take Back The Flag from MAGA extremists! The flag doesn’t represent insurrectionists or extremist authoritarians and we say enough.


 


 

Want to join in the fun and fill your heart with American pride even if just for a moment? Here’s how:

  • What does the flag mean to you and why must we reclaim it? Share your personal thoughts and visual expressions to convey your feelings on your favorite social media platforms with hashtags #jointheunionus and #TakeBackTheFlag or send to us at [email protected]. Please provide your first name and state. We have 3 suggested ways to share:

1. Post images, photos, paintings, other artwork, poetry, etc. with your thoughts.

2. Post a short video (< 2 minutes & horizontal orientation) explaining why you are reclaiming the flag as a symbol of democracy. 

3. Play with our fun new communication tool Social Storm.  You can personalize super posts. Once you’ve tried it, you’re hooked! Try Social Storm

  • LINCOLN PROJECT JUST RELEASED A CAPTIVATING VIDEO “OUR FLAG.”.  WATCH "OUR FLAG” HERE.  If you are as inspired as we are, you’ll want to share this stirring reminder that the flag belongs to every American on your social media and with friends and family who are not on social media.  It’s OUR flag! 

If you don’t have an image or video to post, you can still help by liking and sharing the Lincoln Project video and fellow Union members’ posts. Let’s use our voices to drown out undemocratic extremists on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin and most importantly in real life. Let’s be a bullhorn for democracy!

The American Flag has been co-opted by anti-American violent insurrectionists and it’s high time we took it back. Thank you for your help in restoring democracy with this campaign. It really does matter.
