Friend –
It’s no surprise that the conversations around the debt ceiling are dominating your feeds right now, but we need to prepare ourselves for the next fight together: protecting the Farm Bill.
Before any bill can get to the floor, members of Congress have the opportunity to provide their input to the House Agriculture Committee reviewing the bill. This is a can’t-miss opportunity to urge our state delegation to speak up for a Farm Bill that also could be good for our climate.
Anti-environment members of Congress are already making waves against protecting conservation programs the Farm Bill. They’re using anything they can as an excuse to try to slash the funding that supports our farmers.
We need every member of Pennsylvania’s delegation to hear this message from their constituents: the next Farm Bill must continue to support farmers and feed families, but it also needs to support conservation programs that will help energize rural economies, improve climate resilience, and ensure that the agricultural industry is part of the solution to climate change!
Our members of Congress have the opportunity to provide input to the Agriculture Committee, but only until Friday, June 9, so please send a message ASAP.
As it stands right now, the draft Farm Bill includes robust funding that will help our farmers use the latest technologies to decrease their contributions to water pollution and even help curb climate change. But that funding could get traded away as part of a political deal, and we cannot let that happen.
Friend, your voice can make a difference in ensuring that this important legislation meets the needs of our farmers, communities, and future generations, so reach out to your lawmaker today and urge them to support a pro-conservation Farm Bill.
Farmers have depended on the Farm Bill for nearly 100 years. But farming doesn’t look the same today as it did back in the 1930s. As farmers face new challenges, the Farm Bill needs to change. That’s why we’re pushing Congress to pass a Farm Bill that will help farmers invest in new technologies that will cut costs and invest in climate-smart agriculture from Inflation Reduction Act funds.
It’s a crucial piece of legislation that provides support for voluntary, incentive-based programs that help ensure that our farmers can continue to produce the food that sustains our nation and play a vital role in protecting our environment and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Together, we can make a difference in ensuring that this important legislation meets the needs of our farmers, communities, and future generations – reach out to your lawmaker today and urge them to support the Farm Bill.
Thanks for all you do for our movement,
