Happy Pride, John! I hope this month you'll join me in celebrating and supporting our LGBTQ+ community here in Philadelphia and across the nation.

Our city has a rich history of embracing diversity and fostering a sense of belonging. Philadelphia played a pivotal role by hosting one of the first Gay Pride marches in the nation back in 1972. It is a testament to our shared values of inclusivity and equality.

But Pennsylvania is still the only state in the northeast without statewide nondiscrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community. And in past years, we have witnessed troubling actions by extremists in the Pennsylvania legislature targeting transgender children.

True freedom for our nation can only be realized when we all have the freedom to be ourselves. That is why I stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ Americans and proudly co-sponsored the Equality Act.

I invite you to join me by adding your name next to mine in a show of solidarity. Help me to uplift the voices of our LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to standing firmly with our neighbors in the spirit of love and Pride.

We must make it abundantly clear that all Philadelphians are welcome, and we will always stand alongside our LGBTQ+ family. 🏳️‍🌈
