Friend - Do you eat kale, broccoli or cauliflower? We have breaking news you need to know. In a shocking new announcement, the EPA is finally acknowledging that DCPA, the active ingredient in Dacthal, is a pesticide widely used on kale and other produce – and it poses a serious risk to human health, especially during pregnancy. Now the agency is considering a ban on all uses of this dangerous chemical, which has been sprayed widely on U.S. food for decades! This unusual move by the EPA is partly due to a 2022 study showing DCPA can harm the developing fetus in animals exposed even to very low doses. EWG has been raising the alarm on DCPA for years. Even the EPA’s own scientists classified it as a possible human carcinogen in 1995, and the EU banned the weedkiller in 2009. But it continues to be used in the U.S. on kale, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, onions and other crops. EWG analysis of USDA data found DCPA on 60% of kale samples. The EPA is finally standing up to Big Ag to protect our health and considering banning DCPA, but we know Big Ag will do everything in its power to keep on spraying. We need your help to ensure the agency moves quickly to protect our health from this toxic pesticide. Can we count on you to weigh in now? |
