It’s Life or Death for the Bay Area’s Public Transportation System; The State Must Act to Save It!

Join the Rally Saturday 6/3 to Demand Essential Funding

On Saturday, June 3, 2023 transit advocates will gather in Oakland and San Francisco to mourn the impending death of public transit – and our regional economy – if Governor Newsom and the state legislature fail to provide adequate funding for transit in the proposed FY24 state budget.

WHEN & WHERE:
A short memorial for transit will be held at 1:30pm in Civic Center Plaza, across the street from the steps of San Francisco’s City Hall. A rally with elected officials and other speakers will start around 1:40pm and conclude around 2pm. This event will happen rain or shine.

CONFIRMED SPEAKERS INCLUDE:

  • Senator Scott Wiener
  • Supervisor Dean Preston
  • Supervisor Rafael Mandelman
  • Jaime Valoria, Tenderloin Transit Organizer & SFTR Board Member
  • Nayeli Maxson, DSA SF, parent and transit rider

This rally is being organized by independent advocates, Kid Safe SF, Safe Street Rebel, Democratic Socialists of America - San Francisco, and the San Francisco Transit Riders.

Call top decision makers now and tell them to save transit!

Public transportation systems across California are facing major budget shortfalls in the aftermath of the pandemic. If not addressed with state funding, agencies will be forced to implement devastating, potentially irrecoverable service cuts that pose a devastating threat to California’s future.

We need to burn up the phone lines of Governor Newsom and the top legislative leaders to let them know they must provide finding to save public transportation by the June 15 midnight budget deadline. Please call now and share on social media to let everyone know who you called!
