Dear John --

This week has shown how Labour plans to campaign this election – deep in the gutter.

While Kiwis sit around the dinner table wondering how they’ll cover the mortgage or fill up the car and the shopping trolley, Labour is focused on baseless, grubby attacks on the National Party and Chris Luxon.

If this is how Labour is planning to campaign, we need all the support we can get to cut through the attacks and deliver our positive plans to mop up Labour’s mess and get New Zealand back on track.

Under National, there will be no change to current entitlements to contraception, including access to free contraception clinics and subsidised birth control. We will target support to those on lower incomes to ensure everyone can afford to access the contraceptive prescriptions they need.

Labour’s Campaign Chair Megan Woods has been called out by the media for pushing this attack, as her own government has the same policy in place right now, and has for the entire time it’s been in office. It’s unclear if Labour’s army of barely awake backbench MPs understood they were going along with a lie, or just didn’t care.

Either way it’s concerning to see a Government behave with such little integrity and focus at a time when Kiwis are struggling and public services worsen.

While Labour’s tired and ineffective team sits around cooking up its next hit job, we’ll keep pumping out our plans to get New Zealand back on track. So far, National has announced plans to:

- Tackle inflation and lower the cost of living by restoring fiscal discipline, providing tax relief for hardworking Kiwis and reducing red tape

- Provide up to $75 per week in tax rebates to help families with the cost of childcare

- Unlock land for housing, build infrastructure and incentivise councils to allow for more housing

- Deliver more nurses and midwives by incentivising more Kiwis to study nursing and midwifery, and voluntary bonding to keep graduates in New Zealand

- Back our farmers to do what they do best by delivering smarter farming rules, reduce bureaucratic red tape and supercharge the rural economy

- Drive a surge of investment into renewable electricity generation to double our supply of affordable, clean energy

- Extend free breast cancer screening for those aged up to 74 years

- Make sure our kids are getting the skills they need to succeed by requiring schools to spend an average of an hour a day on reading, an hour a day on writing, and an hour a day on maths

- Repeal and replace Three Waters with a model that will restore local ownership and control of water assets, improve water quality and ensure water services are financially sustainable

- Crack down on crime with bootcamps to set serious young offenders on a more productive path

- Back our police to tackle gangs by giving them the tools to disrupt gang activity and stop gang members accessing guns

- Get young people off welfare and into work with intensive support, and sanctions and incentives, for Jobseekers.

The choice is getting clearer every day. Three more years of the status quo with a toxic, economically illiterate Labour Government, or a National Government that will fix the economy so we can address the issues that matter most to you, like reducing the cost of living, restoring law and order and improving our schools and healthcare.

Help us get New Zealand back on track. <[link removed]>

Thank you.
