John,

Our debt is at its highest level since World War II. If we do nothing to curb spending our federal debt will be more than double the size of our total economy by 2053, which is completely unsustainable and will not end well. The Fiscal Responsibility Act, which passed the house last night, is a first step to change our current fiscal trajectory.

Instead of giving the Democrats a blank check to continue their reckless spending spree like they wanted, Republicans led negotiations to pass the LARGEST DEFICIT REDUCTION BILL IN HISTORY. Over the next decade it will reduce projected deficits by $1.5 trillion.

Think about that, with Republican control in only the House, fighting against the Schumer Senate and President Biden, we were able to negotiate a bill that reduces spending. Republicans forced a solution that doesn't continue to kick the can down the road.

The bill also includes:
* Work requirements for welfare programs, which we've long advocated for. It is a hand up, rather than a hand out.
* The largest claw back of taxpayer funds in history, reclaiming tens of billions of dollars allocated by the Biden administration for COVID.
* 'Pay-Go' rules to force the White House to find savings for their costly rules and regulations.
* Streamlined permitting processes to reclaim our energy independence, the first real NEPA reform in 40 years.
* Slashed IRS agent funding of Biden's 80,000 swat agents.
* REDUCTIONS IN OVERALL SPENDING.

The Republican majority stands in stark contrast to socialist Democrats in the House and President Biden’s radical policies. They have spent the last two years refusing to acknowledge the pain they've caused American families through sky-high inflation that raised costs and sidelined Americans from the workforce. Today is a new day with the Republican majority.

We are off to a great start in this Congress, with numerous conservative bills passed out of the House. This is another win. The bill doesn't spend a penny, rather it reduces spending by setting limits for what can be spent for years to come.

There is a lot more work to do to put us on the right fiscal path. You can count on the Republican majority in the House to continue to fight at every turn to save the country, and to ensure that our kids and grandkids will have their own opportunity to live the American Dream.

Thank you,
