Russia targeted the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, yet again with a missile attack in the early hours of Thursday, killing three people, including a mother and child who were not able to get into a shelter, as the NYT reports. |
NATO Presses Turkey on Sweden
NATO on Thursday ramped up pressure on member nation Turkey to drop its objections to Sweden’s membership as the military organization seeks to deal with the issue by the time U.S. President Joe Biden and his counterparts meet next month, as the AP reports. |
CSIS Commission on Hostage Taking and Wrongful Detention Launched
A new CSIS commission, launched partly in response to Russia’s detention of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, aims to help tackle the challenges the U.S. faces over the rising number of Americans unjustly detained abroad, as the WSJ reports.
