It is with the utmost pride that I present Resource Generations's 2022 Annual Report, which is a testament to the incredible grappling, resilience, and triumph of everyone involved in this complex organizing projectIn the words of Yahya Alazrak, RG’s Executive Director, “2022 was a year of adaptation and evolution for so many of us personally and for Resource Generation as an organization.”
The truth is, as we grow and learn together, we are often adapting and evolving. That is the beauty of this work. In the report, you will read about both challenges and celebrations. In fact, many of our celebrations grew out of challenges. For instance, as many of you have heard by now, we were in a deficit for the majority of 2022, but in the end, 98.8% of our income came from members like you paying your dues and investing in the power of this organization!
While we’re very much in the thick of 2023, I invite you to take a moment to slow down and reflect on all that we accomplished last year. Here are some highlights:
We ended the year with 1,033 dues-paying members that raised 98.8% of our organizational income.
We collectively redistributed over $99M to movements.
We leveraged power across the country with 19 official chapters, 6 emerging chapters, and college fellows on four college campuses.
We had over 2,000 people join us to dig deeper into how we individually and collectively resource ourselves to organize for a more equitable world.
We held two membership drives that brought our people together to make bold commitments, celebrate, and collectively raise over $1.6M for RG.
…And so much more!
When we come together as a membership community, we show up powerfully and courageously. As I look back on 2022, I have so much gratitude and appreciation for each and every one of our 1,000+ members for choosing to be in this work with us, for continuously showing up, and for being comrades, friends, and co-conspirators in ending wealth hoarding and building a better world.
I hope you are inspired by the contents of this report and are recommitted to our movement for the redistribution of wealth, land, and power. If you are, there is never a better time than now to renew your membership dues [[link removed]] and sign RG’s 2023 Annual Redistribution Pledge [[link removed]] .
In commitment to continued struggle and success,
Julia

2022-2023 STUDENT ORGANIZING FELLOWS' SPECIAL PROJECTS
[[link removed]]
Last fall, we introduced RG’s third cohort of Student Organizing Fellows -- Charlie, Harry, Leila, Grace, Emily, and Sadie. The Student Organizing Fellows bring a critical combination of creativity, magic, and determination to RG’s work. They eagerly experiment with bold tactics to mobilize the youngest folks in our base, strengthen our organizing frameworks, and expand the narratives of our multi-racial and cross-class movement. Over the years, fellows have made remarkable strides in integrating student perspectives across RG: organizing on more than a dozen campuses, creating student-specific resource libraries, facilitating trainings and national praxis, and building a strong foundation for wealth redistribution among students all over the country. The Fellows’ creativity and strong organizing skills have promised and continue to deliver deep transformation of our work. Learn more about their vision, objectives, and the lasting impact they seek to create this year.
Leila (she/her) is focused on increasing resources for BIPOC students interested in wealth redistribution. Leila plans to launch a BIPOC narrative campaign series consisting of interviews with RG members of color, inviting them to share their personal narratives, honest critiques of and dreams for our organizing, and their liberatory visioning for the future of redistribution She’ll focus on outreach to current BIPOC students across the country, and hopes the information learned will lead to expanded organizing frameworks and shifts in the language we use to education, mobilize, and expand our base. Also, you will soon be seeing Leila on RG's TikTok as our main content creator (more on this below)! Connect with Leila at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
Harry (he/him) is committed to strengthening RG chapters' muscle for campaign organizing. From his 8 years of experience as a community organizer, he brings insights from gun violence prevention, food justice, racial justice, feminist and queer/trans organizing principles, and living wage movements. He is working closely with RG’s Local Power Organizer, Emery, to develop resources that RG chapters can use to support their campaign organizing. He is hopeful this project will help RG Chapters build language and skills for campaigns that fight for racial and economic justice. Connect with Harry at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
Charlie (they/them) is focused on supporting RG’s High Net Wealth (HNW) organizing by creating resources for HNW RG members to build community, reflect on their class patterning, and better align their actions with their values. They’re collaborating with RG’s HNW organizer, Sahana, to hold more casual collective spaces for HNW members to convene and connect. Charlie will also interview some of RG’s current HNW members, with the goal of developing resources for HNW students to learn intergenerationally in order to make bold and just decisions about redistribution. Connect with Charlie at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
Emily (they/them) is creating a resource compilation that can be used as a reference for people with wealth and class privilege as they engage in cross-class organizing and redistribution beyond RG chapter spaces. They’ll include an account of some cross-class solidarity movements and moments in organizing history, and will also create living references based on conversations with organizers who were/are a part of cross-class organizing. They hope this project will form some guiding principles for people to follow as well as create space for conversations with organizers to discuss this. Connect with Emily at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
Grace (she/they) is bringing us along as she explores new economies and solidarity economies. She plans to collaborate and build with artists, RG members, other movement organizers, and students from all over the country to create a zine about the radical possibilities ahead of us as we organize towards liberation. She wants to illustrate, through storytelling and visual art, some of the futures that are possible. Connect with Grace at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
Sadie (she/her) plans to survey students to create a report of perspectives on class inclusivity on campuses all over the country – something that educators can read and utilize to improve the educational spaces they’re responsible for. She also plans to lead a teach-in for faculty at Oberlin, encouraging them to adapt their teaching and discussion methods, check their biases, and design curriculum with class solidarity in mind. Connect with Sadie at [email protected] [[email protected]] .
If you’d like to celebrate, participate in, or learn more about the project each Fellow is working on, feel free to reach out! I’m excited to share the resources, learnings, and calls to action that emerge over the next few months, and to continue the work of integrating our base and our members into a powerfully cohesive movement of dreamers, organizers, and redistributors.
Take good care, y’all,
keithlee spangler (they/them)

CHAPTER UPDATES
Screenshot from a jamboard with 14 colorful sticky notes, each with an example of a non-monetary form of redistribution. E.g. co-signing loans to help boost credit scores; adding an authorized user on a credit card; sharing cars, equipment, extra storage space; sharing frequent flyer miles or points. [[link removed]] Portland & Seattle Chapters
The Portland and Seattle Chapters continue our 6-month community call series with members all across the Pacific Northwest! At our last call we brainstormed how to leverage class privilege, power, and resources through non-financial redistribution, and discussed measured risk taking. We're excited to be re-engaging old members and bringing in some new faces too. Both chapters are looking forward to building out our intake processes and onboarding new members in-person this summer.

The Fund Abortion Now! Team had a very successful 2022, with the launch of the fundabortionnow.us [fundabortionnow.us] zine, multiple political ed events, and being well on our way to raising $2 million to the National Network of Abortion Funds and their affiliate funds over the next 2 years.
We are hoping to build upon the success of our campaign by growing our campaign team. We’re looking to recruit RG members who either have these skills (or want to develop these skills):
- Research
- Visual artists/design work
Please reach out to [email protected] [[email protected]] if you are interested in joining our team, or feel free to share with other RG members who may be interested.
Thank you,
Fund Abortion Now! Team
UPCOMING EVENTS
[[link removed]] RG Internationalism Series [[link removed]]
Register [[link removed]] Wednesdays starting July 12
An important development of a solid multicultural, multiracial political analysis and organization is to move our strategies and tactics beyond the false borders of the United States of America. The Internationalism Summer School is an opportunity for a multiracial, cross-class space at Resource Generation to explore the connections of local and national struggle with international solidarity. Class struggle is deeply tied to the global economy and it is crucial for people with wealth, social class mobility, land, and power, to investigate these connections. In this program, we will collaborate with frontline organizations, foundations, and funders to expand our understanding and position towards redistribution and solidarity work that is more deeply connected to the international struggle against global capitalism.
This will be a highly interactive and participatory series. We ask that you commit to attending all sessions. If you are not able to attend all sessions please let us know which sessions you plan to attend.
This program is for EVERYONE, not just members with access to wealth! This program is designed for a multiracial, cross class participation.

WHO: RG members who have been through MMMC or Praxis
Over the course of this weekend, we’ll explore campaigns to win structural wealth redistribution and narrow the focus of RG’s new National Campaign. Participants will learn organizing skills, chapters will share projects they’ve been hard at work on. We invite current RG Members (at-large or chapter members) who are interested in issue-based grassroots campaigns and ready to grow their leadership in cross-class movement building. We ask that at least 2 members from the same chapter attend together. This summit will be most useful to members who have attended MMMC and/or completed Praxis. Masks in indoor spaces and a PCR test prior to arrival will be required.
