U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) announced his resignation from Congress, citing his wife's illness. The resignation triggers a special election to fill his seat. Utah's congressional map faces a lawsuit that alleges the districts are gerrymandered to benefit Republicans. Lawmakers split Salt Lake City, Utah's capital and most populous city, into four congressional districts.

For a third time, the U.S. Supreme Court is considering in conference whether to take up a case challenging Mississippi's Jim Crow-era felony disenfranchisement law. The Court may announce whether or not it will hear the case as soon as Monday, June 5. We will be keeping a close eye on this lawsuit and keep you updated on any new developments.
