Progressive Champions Series. Rep. Zooey Zephyr, Montana House, District 100, MT. Run for Something Alum 2022.

John: We’re so excited to bring you a new monthly feature, “Progressive Champions.” We know what you might be thinking (ah, not another email!), but give us a chance – you won’t regret it.

Progressive Champions highlights young, progressive Democrats who are taking on the GOP headfirst: Every month, we’ll feature a Run for Something (RFS) alum who is using their elected power to push progressive policy and fight back against some of the worst policies Republicans are enacting.

Not a lot of folks can match the tenacity of RFS alum Zooey Zephyr, and we’re proud to highlight her work in the Montana state house. Zooey made history when she became Montana’s first openly trans legislator. She is a fierce advocate against anti-trans laws that seek to deny the full humanity of trans people – like limiting access to gender-affirming care and banning trans youth from playing sports.

Extremist Republicans went so far as to censure Rep. Zephyr and ban her from the House chamber, so she used her position to ignite a nationwide movement that spotlighted the GOP’s anti-democracy and hateful anti-trans policies.

Zooey knows it’s so important to be at the table where decisions are made – that’s why she made her own seat outside of the Montana House chamber when Republicans wouldn’t let her in.

We’re so proud of Zooey and to be a part of her journey running for and winning elected office. Her success was made possible with your support – support that helps Run for Something recruit, train, mentor and propel the next generation of young progressives to victory in local office.

And we’re committed to this cause. But we need help to keep doing it. Running campaigns takes resources – resources you can help provide. So please, will you join us now and help deliver on our mission to elect and empower more young progressives like Rep. Zooey Zephyr? Donate $5 now to help us empower the next generation of leaders to tackle the radical Republican agenda >>

Thank you for reading the first issue of Progressive Champions, and keep an eye out for next month’s featured young progressive!
