John, last night,
I voted NO against the "Fiscal Responsibility Act" and I'm here to tell
you why.

During the entire duration of the debt ceiling negotiations, MAGA
Republicans held the American people hostage in order to exact their
political and personal interests at the expense of working people. This is
not a criticism, it's a fact.

When we are elected to office, we take on a moral and ethical obligation
to fight for our constituents and their values. That's why I am more than
invested in holding bad actors accountable and supporting real solutions
that match the urgency of the moment's we're facing daily.

[ [link removed] ]If you're with me, please consider chipping in a donation of any amount
to support our movement as we work to amplify legislation that supports us
all — not just to the wealthy few.

While the Biden Administration was able to walk back many of the extreme
GOP's worst ideas, we should have never even been in this situation to
begin with. Due to Republicans' inability to show up for working people
and their need to protect the wealthiest individuals and corporations at
the expense of the people:

* Working people and poor people will now be forced to resume crippling
student debt payments,
* predominantly Black and Brown women will be kicked off food assistance
as they enter their senior years,
* and people everywhere will be forced to live with more environmental
injustice.

This was a manufactured crisis created by Republicans that will have very
dangerous consequences for our future. It proved to  us all that
Republicans are willing to ignore the rule of law, ignore our obligations
to be our debts, and ignore the needs of our constituents if it fits their
political ends.

I know that this is not the way that Congress should do business. And I am
determined to rebuild our democracy to be one that values compassion,
care, and inclusivity to ensure everyone has a chance to thrive, not just
survive. [ [link removed] ]If you're with me, please contribute to our movement today to
keep up our momentum and continue fighting for our future.
