Hi,

Trump-appointed postmaster general Louis DeJoy just testified before
Congress for the first time in more than two years — and he once again
showed why he must be fired in order to save the U.S. Postal Service.^1

DeJoy refused to back down from his plans to keep raising postage rates
while laying off workers, closing facilities, and slowing deliveries. He
callously dismissed concerns about worker safety, even when there’s clear
evidence of postal workers being exposed to extreme cold temperatures.

Then, in an interview after his testimony, he practically bragged about
killing off small businesses that won’t be able to afford his dramatically
increased postage rates. He even floated the idea of jacking up the cost
of a first-class stamp all the way to 90 cents — almost double what it was
when he took over.^2

Louis DeJoy is a disaster, and he has been ever since Trump appointed him.
We’ve mobilized over 100,000 people to demand that President Biden get rid
of Louis DeJoy by nominating two new USPS governors who will vote to fire
DeJoy. Now we must turn up the heat!

Louis DeJoy’s 10-year privatization plan would effectively destroy the
U.S. Postal Service as we know it.^3

Instead of running the post office as a public service, as it's been since
President George Washington appointed Benjamin Franklin as the first
postmaster general in 1792, DeJoy wants to operate it like a private,
profit-seeking business.

But private companies won’t build offices in remote, rural areas because
it’s bad for the bottom line. Private corporations don’t give a damn about
seniors, small towns, or Indigenous communities because they don’t believe
they are profitable enough.^4

The mission of the USPS is fundamentally incompatible with Louis DeJoy’s
commitment to corporate greed. That’s why we must stop him. The power
rests with President Biden to nominate two new USPS governors who will
vote to fire DeJoy. We must demand action now.
