75% of trans youth in the South live in states where bans on gender-affirming care have passed.

Dear John –

It is very difficult to be living through a time of unprecedented political backlash against trans youth across the South. As of now, 75% of trans youth in the South live in states where bans on gender-affirming care have passed.

I’d like to share how we’re responding, and how you can help the Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE) work to ensure that trans youth can access the care they need and deserve.

In January, we launched the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project – our newest regional initiative that provides rapid-response support directly to the families of trans youth who are impacted by anti-transgender healthcare bans in the South, empowering them to continue to receive the care they need. We are working with an incredible team of providers and partners across the South to support youth and families through this time.

Please donate as generously as possible to the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project today. ([link removed]) And starting today, all gifts will be matched up to $25,000 thanks to a matching gift from a generous supporter.

Transgender youth are growing up all across the South and they deserve every opportunity to thrive – and legislation can’t change this reality. Your gift will help CSE and our partners support folks through direct patient navigation support to help families access care in states where it is legal. We also give families emergency grants for travel, medical expenses, and mental health services. We are standing up an ecosystem of care, including resilience workshops and direct support. And we fuel state and local organizations as they provide frontline support to trans youth and their families.

We’ve already moved nearly $65,000 in direct grants to families and organizations across the South, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, and West Virginia. We are expanding into every state where a ban has passed.

At a time when we’re all feeling the urgency to protect trans youth, you can make a huge difference by donating to the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project today.
