Dear John,

In Assad's Syria, civilian hospitals are not safe havens—they’re military targets. In 2019, there were nearly 100 attacks on medical facilities in Idlib province, and more than 900 medical workers have been killed throughout the conflict.

This year’s Oscar-nominated documentary "For Sama"—written as a missive from a mother to her daughter during the 2016 siege of Aleppo, told from inside the city's biggest hospital—underscores why international action for hospitals is necessary. As director Waad al-Kateab films life with her daughter under siege, viewers are confronted first-hand with the daily bombardments her husband faces while treating civilians and running a hospital.

You can watch “For Sama” on PBS: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/for-sama.

We are asking you to urge your Member of Congress to “Act For Sama” and co-sponsor H.Res. 395. This resolution condemns the senseless attacks on hospitals, medical personnel, and emergency responders. #StopBombingHospitals
