Twenty-five years ago, after the success of “TREVOR” — an Oscar-winning short-film I directed about a 13-year old boy whose world turns upside down when word spreads that he’s gay — I soon discovered there were no 24/7 crisis lines that met the unique needs of LGBTQ young people. That weighed on me. So, I found a crisis intervention expert who helped set things up and train counselors. I enlisted my fellow “TREVOR” producer, Randy Stone, and "TREVOR’s" screenwriter, Celeste Lecesne. In three months, we raised funds and The Trevor Project was born.
