| Friend, I’m proud to be working with the Drug Policy Alliance and supporters like you to move marijuana justice forward in Congress. You helped us make history when the House Judiciary Committee recently voted to approve the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. Now we need to ensure it goes to the House for a vote. After more than twenty years advocating for reform in the House of Representatives, I know we’ve finally reached the critical moment where ending federal marijuana prohibition is within sight. Thank you for leading the way with me. Let’s continue the fight: tell your Members of Congress to join me in cosponsoring the MORE Act to end the federal war on marijuana and repair the harms of prohibition. Marijuana prohibition is ruining lives and disproportionately affecting people of color and low-income communities. A marijuana arrest or conviction can have life-long consequences, making it difficult for millions of people to get a job, housing, education and even keep their kids. It’s up to Congress to end federal marijuana prohibition and help the victims of the failed war on drugs rebuild their lives. That’s why I introduced the groundbreaking Marijuana Justice Act two years ago. Thanks to that bill and your help, there’s unprecedented momentum to reform unjust federal marijuana laws and empower communities of color that have been disproportionately impacted by prohibition. This year, we’ve taken the Marijuana Justice Act a step further as we build support for the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, the most sweeping marijuana reform bill ever in Congress. The MORE Act would de-schedule marijuana and end federal prohibition in a fair and just way by prioritizing and reinvesting marijuana tax revenue in those who have been most affected by our failed marijuana laws. It would also support equitable licensing, prevent deportation for marijuana offenses, and provide for federal resentencing and expungement of marijuana cases. Right now, we have a real chance to move the MORE Act forward. But we must keep up the pressure to get it to the House floor for a vote. I need your help to convince my colleagues in Congress to do the right thing. Urge your lawmakers to advance marijuana justice and support the MORE Act. Because of you, momentum for reform has never been stronger. But our fight is not over yet – we must seize this critical moment. As long as we keep standing together, I know we can end the federal war on marijuana, right the wrongs of prohibition and make history in Congress.
