During Pride Month, we celebrate pride and also remember how hard we still have to fight for our most fundamental human rights.
We’re living through dangerous times—but we can’t give up. More states are passing laws where cruelty is the purpose—endangering the mental and physical health of students and putting parents and health professionals at risk of prosecution. Three in ten trans youth live in states that have passed bans on gender affirming care.
More than 450 bills have been introduced targeting trans healthcare, drag shows and affirming library books in state legislatures, and the ACLU reports that 15 states have introduced more than 10 bills each targeting the community.
It’s an appalling, ugly trend—and it’s not going away.
So we must act.
