It’s time for some radical honesty, John.

I don’t agree with it — at all — but it’s easy to understand why some of my Senate colleagues prefer taking thousand-dollar checks from Big Pharma, fossil fuel executives, and corporate lobbyists to fund their campaigns.

The support is baked in. One maximum donation at a time ($3,300 for federal campaigns), a member of the Senate can show up to a fundraising event for a few hours and walk away with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate interests in return. Virtually guaranteed.

In the other chamber, Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pulled in $12.3 million in just one night earlier this year in his first big 2024 fundraiser.

Sure, you may need to cast aside your concerns about our planet, the unaffordable cost of life-saving prescription drugs, or the growing chasm of wealth and income inequality in our country. But unfortunately, there are more than a few of my colleagues who are willing to make that trade for virtually unlimited funds.

Compare that to how my team and I run this campaign. We refuse money from Big Pharma and fossil fuel executives, and from corporate lobbyists.

In order to do this, our little “secret” is: you. This grassroots team. We don’t always know whether we’ll raise enough from emails like this one to hit important campaign fundraising goals before deadlines like tonight’s, but the beautiful thing about it is that we have the power — right here — to equal what someone like Mitch McConnell might pull in from a fundraising event at a DC steakhouse.

One $3, $10, or $25 donation at a time.

I honestly don’t know how much we’re going to raise. My team can give me a rough idea, but the truth is, we don’t know until the email is out the door and in your inbox. It’s ultimately up to you.

So I’m humbly asking, John: Can you make a donation right now? I’m hoping we can collect as many donations as possible before midnight. The amount doesn’t matter. All that does is that as many people as possible chip in — because that’s how we’re going to beat Mitch McConnell and his special interest money to defend our Senate majority.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Thanks for helping us get a little bit closer to our goal. I truly couldn’t do this without you.

With love and gratitude,

Cory
