John, a lot of folks told me not to run against Ted Cruz.

They said a Democrat can't win a statewide election in Texas and that I should stick with my "safe" seat in the House after winning with 66% of the vote last year. But I'm not one to play it safe when our rights and values are in danger. 

And listen, this team raised more in the first 24 hours of our campaign than Cruz did in the entire first quarter of 2023 – and the experts are taking notice.

Already, the Cook Political Report upgraded our chances of winning, and both Roll Call AND Inside Elections officially moved Texas from "Solid Republican" to "Battleground"!

John, all of these experts are putting Ted Cruz on notice because of the early strength of our grassroots campaign – but you know that GOP donors are taking notice, too. I've never felt better about our chances. Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight says Texas may be Democrats' best pickup opportunity next year, CNN is calling Cruz one of the most vulnerable incumbents on the ballot, and, if we win in Texas, Democrats will hold the Senate majority.

But CBS News says this could be one of the most expensive races in the country, and with Senate control hanging in the balance, national Republicans are pouring money into Cruz's war chest. They've already launched their first attacks, and if we miss our fundraising goals, I won't have the resources to fight back.

That's why I'm personally asking: Will you split a donation of $3 or more between my campaign and Maggie Hassan's?  Every dollar helps as we work to defeat Ted Cruz, flip Texas blue, and protect our Democratic Senate majority. →
