Last year the U.S. Forest Service set a prescribed fire that destroyed over 400 New Mexicans’ homes. As of April this year, only 13 households have received any financial relief from the federal government.

In early March, Rep. Gabe Vasquez sent a letter to the U.S. Forest Service Chief asking for an action plan to prevent detrimental mistakes like this from happening again and updates for the impacted residents.

Hearing no response from the agency, Gabe pressed Chief Moore directly in a congressional hearing this month.

“If one federal agency causes a catastrophic fire that causes 400 people to lose their home and says now it's FEMA’s problem then people, rightfully so, are not going to have trust in the government. A problem caused by the federal government must be fixed by the federal government.

After Gabe called out the dysfunction between the government agencies, the USDA created a new partnership with FEMA to speed up the process of getting New Mexico families' homes restored at no cost to the fire victims.

If this is the type of results-driven leader you want to keep fighting for New Mexico, can you chip in $20.24 (or any amount) to help Gabe win re-election next year? His race is rated a TOSS UP and former do-nothing politician Yvette Herrell is already fundraising for a rematch.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
$10 $20.24 $50
$100 $250 Other

Our end-of-month fundraising deadline is coming up quickly on May 31 — any amount you can pitch in before then is greatly appreciated!

Let’s keep holding our government accountable to the people.
