This shouldn’t be controversial: Your personal health care data should never be used against you. Not by prosecutors, not by lawmakers, and not by private citizens who have been encouraged to enforce abortion bans.

That’s why we need your support to strengthen the privacy protections under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act — more commonly known as HIPAA. The Biden-Harris administration is moving to provide additional protections for patient privacy against the continued attacks on our health and rights.

Before this proposed rule can go into effect, the public has a chance to weigh in. We’ve set a goal of collecting 25,000 comments before the deadline. Will you add your name now?

The proposed rule would add protections that limit when a person’s information could be disclosed by a health care provider to investigate or prosecute a patient, provider, or a loved one for seeking, having, or providing an abortion.

No one's privacy should be compromised when they seek health care, and no provider should be forced to share their patients' private health information.

Add your comment to show just how many of us are ready to demand these protections.

We need to keep fighting at every level of government to protect patients and expand access to abortion. This rule is an important step forward — if we can make it permanent. Add your voice and help reach our 25,000-comment goal before the deadline.

Thank you for joining in.

Sincerely,
