John – Nothing's more important to me than telling people the truth – directly and without playing games. So, it's time for an honest, simple conversation about what it means that – even after a deal was announced – some House Republicans are still holding our economy hostage.

It's this simple: if the U.S. doesn't pay our bills, one million people will lose their jobs in just the first week. After six weeks, the number of lost jobs hits 7 million.

And you and I both know that those seven million people without jobs won't be CEOs and hedge fund managers. They'll be folks who were working their asses off to put food on the table for their families.

Newscaster words like "full faith and credit" and "projected deficit" and "previously appropriated" make it sound like the House GOP has been playing some sort of game where the two sides are "Republicans" and "Democrats."

That's a lie. The two sides are "people who Republican leaders are willing to hurt" (working families) and "people they aren't" (big polluters, Wall Street gamblers, their millionaire donors).

I'm fighting for that first group. So, no more euphemisms. I want you to have the straight story and to make sure everyone knows the real stakes of House Republicans' stunts.
